IOG Dr. Stya Paul Awards 2017
Held on 22nd October, 2017 in New Delhi
The Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology (IOG) Dr. Stya Paul Awards 2017 was highly acclaimed by the distinguished guests and audience including doctors, academicians and other dignitaries. The event was also widely covered by many media houses and publications.
A oration lecture on "A Pill in Time Saves Nine" was delivered by Dr. Carolyn Westhoff, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Professor of Epidemiology, Population & Family Health at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health; and Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Westhoff serves as editor-in-chief of the journal Contraception, a monthly publication for the advancement of reproductive health. In 2010, the Society of Family Planning recognized her accomplishments, honoring her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Carolyn Westhoff research interests include epidemiologic studies concerning reproductive health, contraceptive development and evaluation.
Awards were announced in various categories including the Best Original Study, Best Review Article and Best Case Report of the year - acknowledging authors of the IOG Journal, based on the peer review comprising both national and international editorial team members. From this year onwards, as many as six new awards were instituted - reflecting the heterogeneity of our objective, with cross-divisional and institutional representation. For these new awards, an independent esteemed Jury was constituted for selecting the Awardees.
The award function was held to commemorate the life of Late Dr. Stya Paul - an eminent industrialist, educationist, philanthropist and freedom fighter who provided the foundation and inspiration for the emergence of the Apeejay Stya Group.
