Abstract

We present the case of a 31- year- old woman with precious pregnancy who was diagnosed with severe oligohydramnios at 28 weeks of gestation. The patient was managed conservatively with intravenous Alamin SN infusion (crystalline amino acids) and hydration along with oral supplements. However, after one week of conservative management showed a further decline in the AFI (<2 cm). A decision to perform amnioinfusion was taken which was done by transabdominal route. The procedure was done twice at an interval of two weeks. We were able to prolong the pregnancy upto 34 weeks and a decision to terminate pregnancy was taken. Elective lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) was performed. A healthy baby boy was delivered in vertex presentation, weighing 1350 gm. Baby cried immediately after birth. There were no signs of foetal distress. APGAR scores at 1 and 5 minutes were 7 and 8 respectively. Both mother and child were discharged from the hospital after one week. Amnioinfusion was done twice and the pregnancy was prolonged until 33 weeks, at the end of which a healthy baby was delivered by LSCS.
