Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology publishes original research articles, review articles, letters to the editor, book reviews and other scientific information in the field of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Infertility.


The contents of Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology are covered under the copyright. Articles are to be submitted for publication with the express understanding that their contents, all or in parts have not been published and will not be published elsewhere in an abstract or any other form without the written consent of the Publisher. Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology does not accept the responsibility for statements made by the authors. It is assumed that the authors submitting articles directly to Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology transfer the entire copyright of their article to Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Authors submitting articles, illustrations, photographs and other material should themselves hold responsibility of owning toward copyrights of what they submit. If authors do not own copyrights, Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology needs to be informed in writing, but the authors need to directly obtain permission for publication in Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Conflict of Interest

Authors are responsible for recognising and disclosing any conflict of interest, or potential conflict of interest, that may bias their work, or could be perceived to bias their work, and acknowledge all financial support and any other personal connections.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)/Ethical

Approval Please provide the statement that the research protocol was approved by the relevant institutional review boards or ethics committees and that all human participants gave written informed consent.

Financial or Other Bias

Articles written through financial support or other professional bias should mention the same in the covering letter. Information on financial or professional assistance rendered in the article or its study by a commercial or other organisation must be mentioned.


Articles accepted for publication are edited to conform to the journal's style and format. Your submission of an article to Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology is also your acceptance of the editing done by us.

The articles are subjected to peer review before acceptance for publication. The editorial board has the right to introduce changes as may be considered necessary.

Author's Certificate

Author certificate should accompany each article stating that their Author/ Authors has/have read and checked the article submitted for publication and given his/her consent. All the authors are required to sign the certificate. The qualification(s) and complete postal address of each author must be mentioned. In case of multiple authors the name of the contact author along with correspondence address must be mentioned.


Manuscripts must be neatly typed in double-space typing throughout on one side of the sheet(s) of good quality bond paper of the size 28x22cm, with 3cm margins on both sides. Words should not be hyphenated at the end of a line. A soft copy of the article should also be sent by e-mail at

Three copies, including the original, of the typed script should be submitted along with two sets of illustrations to the Publisher, Apeejay Stya Publishing Pvt. Ltd., LSC, S-Block, Panchsheel, New Delhi, India. Authors are advised to retain a copy of the manuscript and illustrations for any future reference/correspondence with the Publisher/Journals. Authors are requested to send the article on a CD/DVD if possible, to facilitate quick processing. Material received for publication will be acknowledged and the decision regarding publication will be communicated to the 'Author for correspondence'.

he manuscript of case reports/ studies & original article should be arranged in the following sequence: Title Page, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Material and Methods, Result, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Table and legends to figures.

Title Page

A separate title page should be provided. The title should be appropriate and informative. The names of individual authors should be given as initials followed by surname. Individual author's names should be superscribed with asterisks and academic designations and institution mentioned at the bottom of the page. No other information should be added on this page. Address for correspondence should be mentioned at the bottom of the page.


Keywords should be provided. Keywords are additional words which are used by indexing agencies and the journal itself to index articles. The words in the title are automatically indexed. The keywords provided should therefore include words which are not already in the title. A suitable source for keywords is the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) published by the Index Medicus every year. Additional words are provided by some specialty journals. A list of 3 to 10 words is usually adequate.


The text of original articles should be divided into sections with the following headings: Introduction, Material & Methods, Result and Discussion. The discussion should avoid repetition of the results and detailed reviews of literature.

Duplication of data should be avoided. Abbreviations should be identified when first used in the text e.g. Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH). No punctuation marks should be inserted in the abbreviations. Abbreviations should be avoided in the title, subtitles, summary and at the beginning and end of sentences. Standard abbreviations may be used without identification and with no punctuation marks. Numbers should be in words when at the beginning or end of sentences. Only generic names of drugs should be used: where essential, the brand name and manufacturing company may be identified in parentheses. Acknowledgment should be put as an appendix to the text on a separate page.


The references should be in Vancouver system. References in the text should be given as numbers by superscription. References should be numbered in the order of their appearance in the text. Personal communications are identified in the text and not in the reference list. Accuracy of the references is the responsibility of the authors. Cross-references (“Quoted by….”) and personal communications should be avoided. When there are six or less authors, the names of all the authors are to be quoted. If there are more than six authors, list only the first six and add et al. The form and punctuations in references should conform to the Vancouver style of the journals as given below.

Tables should be separately typed, serially numbered with a running short title for the table.

Illustrations & Photos

Diagrams, illustrations and photographs add not just to the beauty of layouts but also ensure reader's interest and readability. IIustrations/photographs should be sent in duplicate. All graphics must be numbered consecutively according to their citation in the text and must include short descriptive legends. For photos and X-ray films, submit on glossy prints and not on matt paper. On the back, table include the author's name and the figure number with light pencil. For color images submit 35mm slide or a glossy color print of sizes not exceeding standard post card size.

Letters to the Editor

A limited number of letters will be published. Letters should not exceed 500 words, should have not more than five references & one illustration and should focus on articles from the IOG journal. Letters must be submitted within two month of the print issue date of the article. Letter selected for publication will undergo scrutiny by one of our peer reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief will judge whether a submitted letter merits consideration for potential publication based on relevance, inherent interest, and coherence of the submission. The letter will be edited prior to publication.
